Apple Cider Vinegar

If you google, "Apple Cider Vinegar benefits", you will be overwhelmed with articles preaching the miraculous, anti-ageing, immunity boosting, magical powers of this simple kitchen ingredient. I admit, I was a little skeptical, was this just another fad thrown around, competing with Kombucha to be all the health & wellness junkies' favourite drink. However, the fact that this concept, or old wives tale even, has been talked about for generations made me think perhaps there was more to the story.

The list of conditions/symptoms this simple tonic can assist with appears varied & unending, however the concept is simple - the acidity of the vinegar helps to balance the pH levels of the body, aiding issues in the gut - which we are learning is truly a control centre for the functioning of the rest of the body! The remarkable benefits of this product, rich in enzymes & potassium, seemingly include:

  • Helps clear up acne

  • Helps relieve allergies

  • Lowers blood pressure

  • Lowers cholesterol

  • Reduces inflammation

  • Balances pH level

  • Helps relieve muscle pain from workouts

  • Helps dissolve kidney stones

  • Helps prevent sinus infection

  • Helps prevent acid reflux

  • Helps prevent arthritis

  • Lowers levels of fatigue

  • Aids digestion

  • Helps control and prevent candida.

Feeling a little sluggish, noticing an increase in FODMAPs & food intolerance related bloating and some extra annoying blemishes I thought it was time to give it a real go and add taking ACV each morning as the kickstart to my day.

The trick to taking ACV is in the quality of product you purchase. We aren't talking your generic, salad dressing vinegar here. Instead you need the top of the range stuff here and it needs to include strains of the Mother Of Vinegar, which is all the goodness that provides the real health benefits to your gut, and subsequently your entire body. I've been using the Raw Earth brand & loving that, but there are plenty of top quality options out there.

The process is super simple, add 1-2 teaspoons of ACV into a small glass of warm water and drink on an empty stomach. If you fancy, adding the juice of half a lemon or some Manuka honey - each with their own incredible health benefits can create a health tonic. However, at the hour of 6am, I tend to opt for simple & effective!

Since adding this into my morning routine for the past two weeks, I have found a huge difference in my energy levels, general peppiness & brightness in my skin and eyes! I felt like my bloating reduced and I actually looked forward to the taste in the mornings!

I'm definitely going to keep this one up - let me know if you use ACV or if you give it a go
